Yandex: Russia’s cloud market seen behind world by 6 times
MOSCOW, Jan 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s cloud services market should be at least six times larger to catch up with the global standards, Managing Director of group of companies Yandex Tigran Khudaverdyan said late on Thursday.
“The international cloud services market is valued at U.S. $333 billion. It means that if we believe that the Russian economy accounts for 2% of the global, the Russian market should be over $6 billion, while it is estimated at $1 billion. This means we lag behind by at least six times,” Khudaverdyan said.
Mobile operator VimpelCom General Director Alexander Torbakhov said that many solutions used by big and small companies do not work with cloud services, but all modern software programs are created, as a rule, with an option to move to remote servers and the volume of cloud services will grow.
When cloud storage facilities are used, firms’ data are kept in remote servers rented from another company with no need to own a server.
